Sponsored by the Center for Light and Healing, our "Opening to the Miracles" Natural Healing Group is quickly becoming one of our region's fastest growing groups! Now meeting the first and third Sunday of every month (except holidays), each of our gatherings begins with a talk on a unique topic of interest pertaining to group energy healing, psychic development, or spirituality along with a guided meditation for spirit and energy clearing. This is followed by our Group Healing and Prayer Service. We then end with a closing prayer as we join together in fellowship for a banquet style vegetarian pot-luck dinner during the last hour of our gathering.

Miracles are the natural state of affairs when we open to them and do not stand in their way. When healers come together as a group, the healing energy flows more intensely, and the resulting effects are stronger than the sum of energy each healer channels individually. When we all come together with the same intent, our collectively energy is increased many times over. Group healing is a powerful way to manifest miracles, and miracles can and do occur. We are delighted to have the collective energies of more than two dozen energy healers from our area working together, and the healing energy of our group is simply extraordinary!

Reiki, a Japanese word for "universal life-force," is an ancient healing practice based in part on the hands-on healing of Christ which works to revitalize and balance the body’s life-force energy to help restore one to optimal health on the levels of the body, mind, and spirit. It is an extremely gentle, yet very effective, process in which the healing energy from God, or the Universal Life Force, is channeled through the practitioner to the person receiving the treatment and/or oneself. It can be safely used with all illnesses and ailments with numerous benefits to help restore one’s own inherent natural healing ability and can even work on plants and animals.

Receiving Reiki attunements is a powerful spiritual experience in which attunement energies are channeled through the Reiki Master(s) to open one’s chakras, or spiritual energy centers, and create a special link to the Reiki source to allow one to channel greater amounts of energy. Those who have already received Usui Reiki attunements of a given level can still benefit by receiving additional attunements of the same level, which will further strengthen and refine your ability to pass energy to yourself and others. The attunement process, which is guided by the Universal Life Force, also increases one’s intuitive and psychic abilities, and many report mystical experiences involving the opening of the third eye, receiving personal messages, healings, visions, past life experiences, and an overall raised level of consciousness as a result.

Reiki serves as the foundation for our introductory weekend workshop in which all other healing modalities may be easily blended and incorporated. In this section, participants will:

•     Receive an introduction to the definition,
       background, history, and precepts of Reiki
•     Receive Usui Level I Reiki attunements and an
       understanding of the nature of the attunement
       process and 21-day cleansing period which follows
•     Learn about and practice Reiki hand positions for
       self-treatment and healing others
•     Learn about creating a healing setting for conducting
       Reiki healing sessions, conducting yourself
       professionally as a practitioner, and incorporating
       Reiki into other healing modalities
•     Practice giving and receiving Reiki hands-on healing
       sessions with other attendees

Crystals and gemstones have been widely used for centuries for healing and spiritual practices around the planet from ancient and diverse civilizations as the Mayans, Atlanteans, and Egyptians, to eastern, European, Aborigine, and Native American cultures. Today the practice of using stones and crystals for healing continues, and from quartz watches keeping perfect time to silicon chips in credit cards recording your financial transactions, the electromagnetic properties of crystals are utilized with extraordinary capabilities by practically everyone on a daily basis!

Crystal healing works on the principle that every cell in the body vibrates to its own specific frequency, and when these natural frequencies become unbalanced, we experience dis-ease. All crystals oscillate to a natural healing frequency, and when powered by mental energy or intention, healing energy transmitted from the Universal Life Force may be channeled through crystals and stones and amplified through the molecular structure of the natural crystals. Thus, crystals and stones help raise the vibrational level of the person being healed so that his or her own inherent healing can occur along with magnifying other energy work which may be performed to help clear away energetic blockages, balance the chakras and auric field, and harmonize the body’s frequencies to optimum, healthy levels. In this section of the workshop, participants will:

•     Gain an understanding of the healing nature of
       crystals, the different types of crystals and stones,
       and their metaphysical and healing properties
•     Learn about healing and working with crystals,
       including how they resonate vibrationally to clear and
       balance each of the different chakras and the auric
       field, and how to work with crystals on an intuitive
       level
•     Discover how to select, charge, and program your
       crystals for your own self-healing, for working with
       others with crystal healing, and for clearing your
       personal space
•     Learn about and practice performing crystal layouts
       for use in crystal healing sessions and incorporating
       into other healing modalities

If you have crystals or stones you would like to bring with you to identify them, learn more about their healing properties, and practice healing with them, you may do so, or there will be plenty of extras on hand for you to use.

From the Sanskrit word meaning "wheels of light," our chakras are spinning vortexes of light which transmit and receive energy from our Creator, or Universal Life Force, responsible for giving life to our soul or consciousness residing within our physical body. When our spiritual energy centers become stagnant or blocked due to stress, inability to express our emotions, incongruent beliefs, dis-ease, exposure to toxicity, and other imbalances on the levels of the body, mind, and spirit, our life-force energy cannot flow in and out freely, and our health may consequently suffer. Chakra healing aims to restore one’s chakras back to their natural state of vibration and frequency, and some of the tools and techniques most commonly used to balance the chakras will be incorporated throughout our workshop, including hands-on healing, crystals and gemstones, aromatherapy, sound healing, and working with color. In this particular section, the modality of chakra healing unto itself will be explored in depth within a framework for understanding and assessing the chakras and helping to restore them to their optimal health. Participants will:

•     Gain an understanding of the mind’s effect on the
       body as expressed through the chakra system or
       spiritual energy centers
•     Learn about the seven major chakra centers and
       their purpose within the context of assessing the
       chakra system for imbalances, including whether
       each center is overly productive, has a healthy flow,
       or is blocked
•     Receive guidelines for determining how the chakras
       are flowing using a standard measure of the
       archetypes that the mind expresses at each chakra
•     Learn about and practice the use of custom
       affirmations to encourage healing as an aid to
       restoring the chakras to a healthy flow within the
       broader context of other tools and techniques for
       chakra healing covered throughout the workshop

Aromatherapy, or the therapeutic use of essential oils, has been used for balancing the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual systems since pre-Egyptian times. The Bible gives us many references to the healing and anointing oils of God that come to us from the plant kingdom, and the early Church used essential oils from the medicine chest of her day for both healing and for sacred ceremonies. Essential oils are the steam-distilled lifeblood of plants, and as they penetrate the skin and enter the bloodstream, they bring their oxygenating, anti-viral, anti-bacterial properties into your system within seconds! Therapeutic grade oils can be relaxing or stimulating, depending on the chemistry of the essential oil used, and they can be applied topically to the skin, inhaled or in some cases taken internally.

Come and be amazed at the immediate profound effects and benefits of therapeutic grade essential oils. In this introduction to aromatherapy, participants will:

•     Gain a basic understanding of where essential oils
       come from, how they are made, and why some oils
       heal while others actually may not heal
•     Understand how, why, and what essential oils were
       used during biblical times and the various ways in
       which they can be used today
•     Learn about the different chemical, healing, and
       nutritional properties of essential oils within the
       context of learning how to conduct a basic
       aromatherapy session
•     Learn about and apply the Mood Elevating Protocol
       technique, consisting of Joy, Harmony, Valor, and
       White Angelica oil blends to help elevate one’s own
       and others’ moods when feeling "low" or suffering
       from depression
•     Practice other aromatherapy techniques for
       assessment and healing using oils
•     Learn how to use essential oils for common first aid
       challenges such as burns, cuts, and scrapes, as well
       as, allergies, chronic pain, headaches, migraines,
       arthritis, fibromyalgia, fatigue, depression, stress,
       anxiety, and your specific wellness concerns
•     Learn about the use of Aromatherapy for anti-aging
       techniques and other uses, such as enhancing
       immune function to avoid the cold and flu season,
       uplifting mood and emotion, and purifying your home
       and work environment

Quantum Touch is a revolutionary breakthrough in healing using simple breathing and energy awareness exercises which can be easily learned by everyone and seamlessly incorporated with Reiki and other healing modalities. When one holds a high vibration of energy in and around an area of the body, through the process of resonance and entrainment, the vibration of the area is matched with the practitioner allowing one’s own innate healing to occur. •     Learn how to focus and amplify Universal Life Force

•     Learn how to perform structural realignment of bones
       with a light touch to reduce or eliminate back pain
       with fast and effective results

The power of thought through intention is one of the strongest forces in the world. The Z-Point Process is a gentle, flexible, easy-to-learn process using focused intention that one can use any time to clear and balance the emotions which may be holding one back from achieving the life one wants to live. Our emotions and thoughts directly impact our well-being and health on the levels of the mind, body and spirit. When our thoughts and emotions are “negative,” they can adversely impact our lives and keeping us from achieving our highest potential. The Z-point Process as an energy modality addresses a wide variety of issues including fears, physical symptoms, negative memories, childhood traumas, grief and depression. Two-thirds of 2006 has passed and fall is now upon us. Fall brings thoughts of harvest and preparation for the winter. Now is a great time to reflect on your inner harvest. Have you planted the "thought and emotional seeds" which will bring you the harvest you desire? Or have some of the thoughts and emotional seeds you planted this year refused to germinate and grow? How could you remove these pesky thought and emotional pattern weeds that could be blocking the growth and manifestation of your desires? In this introductory section on Z-Point Process, you will experience learning how to create emotional compost as a stepping stone to a more fully-lived life! During this section of the workshop, participants will:

•     Receive background information on the development
       of the Z-Point Process along with a brief overview of
       Z-Point process in relation to other healing
       modalities
•     Learn to choose a cue word and how to set an
       intention for the subconscious mind
•     Learn how to clear away the debris of negative
       emotions surrounding the relationship you have with
       your self and others and choose how you desire your
       relationships to be
•     Learn how to balance and align your chakras using
       the Z-point process to add harmony and balance to
       everyday life
•     Learn how to eliminate those strangling weedy
       thoughts that sabotage your growth and choose the
       most powerful emotional nutrients to enrich your
       inner life
•     Experience the power of Z-Point Process and the
       magnificent changes that can occur when you put it
       to use
•     Take home cutting edge tools using the Z-Point
       Process to cultivate the garden of the life you dream
       about

Sound has been used as a means for healing by ancient civilizations for centuries, and cultures around the world today understand the remarkable healing power that lies in sound. Everything in nature, including every organ, bone, and cell in the body, is made up of energy which is vibrating at a unique rate, and dis-ease occurs when the vibrational rate changes or is altered from that of the natural state of harmony and health. Thus, sound healing is the therapeutic application of sound to realize and correct energetic imbalances with the aim of bringing one into an optimal state of harmony and health. By directing one’s intention through the use of sound energy, such as with the use of tuning forks, crystal healing bowls, Tibetan bowls, bells, drums, tingshas, and one’s voice etc., disharmony can be realigned to the original vibrational frequency through a process known as entrainment. Sound healing has been shown to have positive effects and is useful for stress reduction, pain control, learning acceleration, meditation, and better sleep, to name but a few of the diverse benefits.

Toning is the therapeutic application of the voice to areas of the body (muscles, bones, organs, etc.), mind (memories, emotions, insights), and spirit (chakras, auric field, energetic blockages and attachments) that may be out of sync in order to elevate them to their natural harmonious rate of vibration for optimal health. Toning is often accomplished using sounds similar to vowels, Sanskrit syllables, or intuited sounds unique to the area of disharmony. In this section of the workshop, participants will:

•     Gain an understanding of the terminology, principles
       and application of sound healing, including
       resonance, entrainment, and overtones from a
       scientific, theoretical background
•     Receive an understanding of certain conditions in
       particular which may especially benefit from the
       application of sound healing
•     Learn and practice a step-by-step process for
       conducting sound healing sessions for realigning the
       chakras through toning
•     Learn about and practice working with one’s voice
       on an intuitive, energy-feeling based level as a
       means for channeling Universal Life Force energy
       through sound to conduct Spirit-directed sound
       healing sessions and for healing the sense of
       separation and unease one may feel from God,
       others, and the universe at large
•     Learn about and practice how to apply sound healing
       and toning for raising the energy levels in one’s
       environment and opening one’s psychic energy
       centers, and once opened, as a means toward
       clairvoyantly "seeing" and clairaudiently "hearing"
       energy circuit flow for the purposes of identifying and
       clearing energetic blockages in yourself and others
•     Develop an understanding of the dynamic nature of
       toning utilized by cultures around the world as a
       valuable aid to meditation and healing on a global
       level and other forms of advanced spiritual work
       such as with shamanic journeying, interdimensional
       travel, past-life regression, and channeling, thereby
       learning to raise one’s own and others’ vibration to
       vastly higher states of consciousness entirely
       through sound as directed by Spirit
•     Learn about and practice the use of various other
       sound healing tools in addition to toning, including
       chakra tuned "singing" quartz crystal bowls, Tibetan
       bells, bowls, tingshas, chimes, shamanic drums,
       practitioner handlebowls, and tuning forks.

Paula Candlish is a Psychic Empath, Crystal Healer, and Animal Communicator who conducts Crystal Clearing/Emotional Release Sessions, Advanced Crystal Layout/Regression Sessions, and Animal Communication Sessions at and through the Center for Light and Healing in which she utilizes crystals and stones to clear and release energetic and emotional blockages from current and past lives. She states, "These sessions always involve the help of spirit guides. When I see sparks around the individual, I know the spirit guides are here to work with him or her. The crystals and stones help raise the vibrational level of the person, while in an altered state, which enhance the spirits' ability to communicate directly with me and the person receiving healing through thoughts, pictures, and actual conversations. The crystals also magnify the energy work being done which helps in clearing away the blockages." Paula has been working with crystals as an aid to healing for over 10 years and has an extensive knowledge on healing and working intuitively with the use of crystals.

From Elizabethton, TN, Martha Mayo, LMT, CEC, has been a life-long student of personal and spiritual development. Her journey first began after the first of four profound near-death experiences she has had. She has been a licensed massage therapist since 1993 when she graduated from the Baltimore School of Massage. She has studied and become certified in pastoral counseling, deep tissue massage, cranio-sacral therapy, massage cupping, and spa therapies. She has been trained by the International Alphabiotic Association in Dallas, TX, as a practitioner of Alphabiotics, a technique which helps people align and unify the lesser, greater, and sacred parts of themselves to empower people to live and function at a higher level of being. She traveled to Austria to complete her certification in Manual Lymph Drainage from the Dr. Vodder School in Walchese, Austria. In addition, Martha was privileged to study energy work with a graduate of Rosalyn Bruyere’s training, is certified as an energy coach through the Quantum Flow Bioenergetics/Certified Energy Coach Program, is a Level II Reiki practitioner, and is a practitioner of EFT, or the Emotional Freedom Technique. She also is a certified Z-Point Practitioner and is a certified coach with The Healing Codes. Martha's desire is to awaken those with whom she interacts to the incredible potential for an expanded life that dwells within each one of us.

A resident of Bailyton,TN, Donna Stephenson is currently trained as a Certified Respiratory Therapist working for Greene Valley Developmental Center in Greeneville, TN. She has been interested in various forms of hands-on healing and spirituality since childhood in which she has always known of and sensed other energies around her. Then, when she discovered Quantum Touch healing in 2005, she knew that she had found the path that she had been looking for all along. Her background as a respiratory therapist and involvement in the traditional medical field has proven invaluable in helping her visualize and work with Quantum Touch healing in utilizing both breathing techniques and energy awareness exercises. She has since completed two weekend workshops in Quantum Touch healing through Reverend Pam Hurst from Waynesville, NC, in addition to studying and practicing QT for over a year. She is currently working towards her certification as a QT healing practitioner with plans to continue evolving as a healing practitioner, as well as, to become certified as a Quantum Touch Healing Teacher.

Originally from Del Rio, TN, Shannon Stokely is a Reiki Level II practitioner, crystal healer, aromatherapist, herbal and dietary advisor, spiritual counselor and minister now residing in Johnson City, TN. Shannon survived a severe case of viral encephalitis as a child at age six which left him unable to speak, and he has been on the road to recovery and path of wholeness ever since. Shannon developed intuitive gifts along with his ability to channel energy at a very young age and has studied metaphysics extensively for many years. He is a practitioner of the Reiki method of natural healing and incorporates into his repertoire of skills: crystal healing, Fung Shui, aromatherapy, and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). Shannon's other interests include dowsing, massage therapy, and firewalking, and he is currently researching ozone therapy and the problem of candida. As a minister and gifted energy healer, Shannon's own personal path has led him to have a sincere interest in healing and helping others and in the direction of starting his own healing center.

Aromatherapist and Healing Touch Practitioner, Edee Webb, has been a resident of Morristown, TN, since 1979. Thirty-three surgeries and two near death experiences over a 10 year period have led her down a lifelong spiritual path of self discovery and natural healing. A graduate of the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga with a BS in psychology and secondary education, she works as a Healing Touch practitioner and aromatherapist trained by Linda Smith, the founder of Healing Touch Spiritual Ministry Program. In addition, she is the first president of Healing Touch East Tennessee, HTET, an organization created to spread hands-on healing to the region. From her Healing Touch Morristown office, Edee offers a number of services, including: Aromatherapy Sessions, Raindrop Therapy, personal blending of therapeutic grade oils, Healing Touch for balancing the energy field and opening the chakras, Healing Touch for pets, Emotional Release Therapy, Scar Integration, Amygdala Connection, Natural Health Coaching, Spiritual Clearing, and Meditation Techniques. Edee is dedicated to spreading hands on healing through prayer, laying on of hands and anointing with oil. She travels and enjoys teaching the use of therapeutic grade essential oils for physical, emotional, and spiritual well being and promotes the French model of inhalation, ingestion, and topical use of essential oil. Janet Mentgen, founder of Healing Touch International, visualized "a healer in every home," and Edee is actively working toward that goal.

A native of Michigan, currently living in Johnson City, TN, Carol Whittington studied the Bible spiritually and historically for more than ten years while also researching other traditional and alternative religions. A current doctoral student at Clayton College of Natural Health, Carol placed her studies on hold to pursue ordination as a ministerial counselor at the Pathways of Light, A Course In Miracles based church in which she graduated in 2006. As an intuitive healer, Carol's hands-on work encompasses both medical intuitiveness, clairvoyant visions, dream analysis and interpretation, and she is currently experiencing psychic work in connection with her daughter Sarah, who passed in 2004. Carol and her husband Dennis own and operate Therapeutic Massage and Wellness Center, a spiritually-based healing center located in Johnson City.

A native of Johnson City, TN, Dennis Whittington recently graduated from the Center for Massage and Natural Health in Asheville, NC, and currently practices as a Massage Therapist at Therapeutic Massage and Wellness Center in Johnson City, which he owns and operates with his wife Carol. In addition to massage, Dennis' interest in healing also includes such modalities as sound and color therapy, chakra energy balancing, and vibrational medicine, which he applies to assist in removing emotional issues within the light body. Attuned to the Master/Teacher level in Usui Ryoho Reiki, Dennis also is a Ma'heo'o Reiki and Violet Flame Reiki Master/Teacher. He uses the energies from Mother Earth along with the compassion and transmuting capacities of Kwan Yin and St. Germaine, respectively. Dennis holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Master of Science degree in Environmental Health. His background also includes having conducted extensive neuropsychology research while attending the Ph.D. program at the Quillen College of Medicine, and he owns and operates CW Environmental Services, Inc., where he is a consultant managing complex environmental issues in and around northeast Tennessee.
